"Every behaviour is communication. Once you understand what your child is trying to say, everything changes."
I started my career as a shadow aide, sitting alongside autistic children in mainstream classrooms, day after day, figuring out what they needed to survive and thrive in an environment not built for them.
Over the next decade I worked with children and families in Petaling Jaya and Kuala Lumpur in classrooms, homes, and briefly in centres. I also supported children attending speech therapy and occupational therapy sessions, working alongside their therapists to carry strategies into everyday settings.
The problem was never that parents didn't care. They cared deeply. The problem was that nobody had explained the why behind the behaviour. Without understanding the why, it's impossible to respond effectively.
After completing my Master's in Special and Inclusive Education and earning my Hanen certifications, I realised I could reach more families by working directly with parents, not just the children I happened to be assigned to.
The research is clear: parent involvement is one of the strongest predictors of child outcomes in early intervention. A landmark review in the Journal of Autism and Developmental Disorders found that parent-implemented interventions produced meaningful gains in communication, behaviour, and quality of life, especially when parents were coached with consistent, structured frameworks rather than generic tips.
APC is built on this: parents who understand their child's behaviour become the most powerful force in that child's development. My job is to give you that understanding, with frameworks grounded in research and adapted for Malaysian families.

Shadow aide and consultant in classrooms, homes, and therapy settings in Petaling Jaya and Kuala Lumpur

I don't give generic advice. Every session starts with understanding your specific situation: what behaviours you're seeing, when they happen, what's been tried, and what your family's day actually looks like. From there, I give you a clear framework and practical next steps built around your child.
I also work directly in academic support, particularly Maths. Not every learning difficulty is a behaviour problem. Sometimes the way a subject is taught simply does not connect with how an autistic child processes information. Finding that access point is something I do regularly, either by coaching parents on how to support learning at home or working with the school directly.
